2011 Kidding Season of Boers Starts at AGF, Good Looking Boer Kids on the Ground

When it Rains it Pours as the Boer Kidding Season Begins at AGF
June 27, 2011
It was raining cats and dogs in Alaminos last week brought about by Typhoon Falcon. They say ” when it rains it pours”, the heavy rains marked the start of the Boer kidding season at AGF.
AGF 1625, our top Boer Doe kidded a single buckling with a kidding weight of 4.9 kilos with Chan Lee as his sire. AGF1625 is the Dam of the fast growing AGF 100, at ten months he weighed 60 kilos. AGF 100 was our top selling Boer buck at 2007 Agri Link Show.
Marked improvement in the Boer breeding program is being recorded with the introduction of the Stately Line Boer bucks to the program. Chan and Jet Lee have been prepotent in throwing their fine physical Boer meaty features to progenies being produced.
In early January this year, our owner Art Almeda has personally started culling heavily Boer does that does not meet his standards. He is very serious with his Boer Breed Improvement Program after losing at the 2010 Agri Link Boer Show. First to go were the poor mikers and does with hardened udders. Physical features of a meaty Boer goats were high in his selection process for the does that were retained.
The success of the Alaminos Salad Garden (ASG) brought about by the balance rains the past month adds a new dimension in raising the young Boer kids. They would be off to a very good start in nutrition as we cut and carry the very green forage grass and legumes from the ASG to feed them.
We are proud to claim that the Alaminos Salad Garden is an organic garden, only composted goat manure and vermi compost from African night crawler worms are use as fertilizer. No chemical pesticide or inorganic fertilizer have been used in the garden since we started the Alaminos Salad Garden.
The Commercial Boer Bucks (CBB) being sold at Php 15,000 pesos is a big hit with goat raisers who wants to improve the meatiness of their herd. Boers are known for their fast growing characteristic and they bring this to the breeding program. The CBBs are a value for money proposition for goat raisers who wants to produce fast growing meat type goats. ?xml:namespace> ?xml:namespace> ?xml:namespace> ?xml:namespace> ?xml:namespace>

Boer Breed Improvement Program at AGF Keeps on Getting Better
March 30, 2011
The November crop of Boers in 2010 is one of the best produced under the Boer Improvement Program of Alaminos Goat Farm. We started to use heavily Chan Lee and Jet Lee on progenies of AGF Karbo Mono, AGF Ridge and Thorn. Chan Lee and Jet Lee are progenies of Stately, the Reserve Champion Buck of Australia Easter Royal Sydney Show in 2007. Stately is one of the most expensive Boer Bucks in the Philippines right now. Stately is owned by Sandy Javier of Andok’s Litchon Manok fame.
Chan Lee is the meatier Boer buck with lots of shoulder and hindequarter muscle. It is a perfect specimen of a meat type Boer. Jet Lee is the taller and longer buck with lots of muscle also. They come perfect as we add new blood to our Boer Breed Improvement Program in Alaminos as suggested by friends from the academe. ?xml:namespace>

His sire line comes from the award winning buck Karbo Lacy.
Progeny from this line born in April and May 2007 are being snapped by buyers. The bucklings has the length, height and meatiness that buyers are looking for. The outstanding females produced from this line will be use for the breeding program in 2009 as the mother line to anchor our breed improvement program. The plan is to breed them to AGF Thorn and AGF TED
AGF Karbo Mono anchors our Breed Improvement Program for 2008. Its progenies from 2007 breeding season are showing a lot of outstanding bucklings and doelings. Buyers are very happy buying progenies of AGF Karbo Mono. Seeing the potential of his progenies we decided to use him heavilly this breeding season and for next year 2009. |
